Location: Kitale, Rift Valley

Country: Kenya

Code: Ke-WC-Ki

Weeks: 2 - 4

Project Description:

This project is situated on Kenya’s wildlife tourism circuit in the plains and woodlands of the western Rift Valley. And supports the active nature conservation of this area. This is achieved through planting trees, managing woodland, maintaining the plains, and developing the infrastructure that supports tourism and the wildlife guides who lead the wildlife tours

Previous hunting has resulted in the loss of the historic herds of wildlife, and land use has damaged the habitat. Your volunteering supports the protection of the wildlife, and regeneration of the habitat, and development of tourist access for livelihood growing,

Reforestation volunteering can help communities reverse deforestation

Deforestation and Forest Loss - Our World in Data (an article exploring the subject of ending deforestation)

You may have seen the video of the orangutan trying to stop a digger in the Indonesian jungle, as it rips down its trees and wondered how this madness can be ended. Well, there are communities around the world reversing this trend, and we work with 3 in Kenya, in very different settings. One community is replanting the mangroves; another is replanting a rainforest, another replanting bush for the animals of the plains.
